Một chương trình sinh hoạt cho người Việt trên 50 tuổi gồm có thể dục nhẹ hoặc tập Tai chi, sinh hoạt vui, học hỏi về sức khoẻ , thông tin y tế cộng đồng và ăn trưa chay.

Đây là chương trình hợp tác giữa Trung Tâm Y Tế Miền Tây và Chùa Quang Minh dành cho người Việt nam. Chưng trình nhằm mục đích giúp tham dự viên nâng cao sức khoẻ, tìm hiểu thêm vê các dịch vụ cộng đồng và y tế địa phương và làm thế nào để sử dụng những dịch vụ này. Dây cung là dịp để quý cô bác gặp thêm bạn bè.

Buddhists rise to occasion

Food stalls, music, martial arts demonstrations and dragon dancing will kick off the new lunar year in a long party that starts at 8am and will continue well into the night.

Festival coordinator Tony Le Nguyen said the event was an important part of the community’s calendar.

“Historically, people would gather at the temple on New Year’s Eve,” Mr Le Nguyen said. “We remember when (the temple) used to be in Sunshine, suddenly thousands of people rocked up.

“So we had to respond and make it more organised.”

Raining cats and rabbits at Quang Minh temple

Footscray's Asian community rang in the lunar new year last week with a festival at Braybrook's Quang Minh temple. For the thousands of Vietnamese present, the festival was part of the three-day Tet festival, or Tet Nguyen Dan, which means "Feast of the First Morning". For them, 2011 will be the year of the cat, while for the Chinese it's the year of the rabbit.
